At a recent Feis, the “MoonPie Girl” developed a rather distinctive advertising technique for selling her “Previously Loved” solo dress. Instead of leaving it sit on a sterile rack alongside sixty other similar dresses, she decided to use a more “Active” approach by modeling it throughout the Feis venue with a rather crude, but effective hand-drawn sign (see above).
She got several chuckles and a couple of nibbles while discovering unused advertising space going to waste!
Irish dancers are used to displaying their competitor number while dancing, and you see them wandering around the Feis between competitions wearing them, so why not use those “plastic number holders” for some good use?
So I went back to the workshop and came up with a couple of prototypes:
First and foremost, a sign to let people know that your lovely dress is “available":

Then I began to think… if you can advertise your solo dress… why not show some support for your favorite Feis Musician:

Or for those dancers who are competing in “Figures” in their “School Dress” that want the whole world to know “They’ve Arrived”:

Then I began to think again (for those that know me, a dangerous thing).
The number holder is in the front… there is a lot of space going to waste in the rear that can be used for a variety of “Irish Dancer Signs” (I checked, technically, there is no rule specifically preventing this)
Keeping safety first and foremost, how about hanging these on your dancer’s rear bumper during a competition.
The following might prevent a serious collision if your dancer uses aggressive stage movements:

And what Feis doesn’t get its share of solo dress flotsam and jetsam? Might as well warn the other dancers if your daughter’s dress is the one creating the “debris field”:

Here’s one for the Feis Moms…
We’ve all seen the cute little expression, “Irish Dancers Kick Butt”.
You don’t have to have a vulgar “Irish Dancer Kiss Butt Sign” but you can still let your favorite adjudicator know how you feel about them:

No doubt others have some ideas for their own signs?
